Riparian floodplain planting, Masterton
Kaitiaki o Ngahere Ltd has been contracted by Greater Wellington Regional Council to carry out the riparian planting of a floodplain in the Masterton region.
Riparian planting is revegetation next to waterways such as streams and rivers which provide numerous benefits. Healthy riparian zones help to reduce erosion and prevent runoff of soil. Once established and matured, the vegetation will support the creation of habitats for native flora and fauna. Over 13,000 native plants grown at a local nursery, have been put in the ground as part of the project. From digging holes, plant distribution, and assembly of plant protectors, Kaitiaki o Ngahere Ltd has utilised our revegetation skill set and history to successfully complete the project.
